Delete your account
You can close your Sousie account and have your data removed at any time. This page explains what gets deleted, what doesn't, and how to ask. Last updated 4 September 2026.
How to delete your account
The quickest way, if you're signed in: open Settings and choose “Delete my account” at the bottom. It takes effect straight away, and you'll be signed out.
Prefer email, or can't sign in? Write to privacy@meetsousie.com from the address you sign in with — sending it from your own address is how we check the request is really yours. You don't need to give a reason. We'll confirm once it's done — normally within a few days, and no later than 30 days.
What gets deleted
- Your sign-in identity — your email address and the passwordless credentials tied to it.
- Your account — the user record that says who you are and which household you're in.
- Your book, if it's yours alone — if no one else is in your household, everything in it is removed with you: your recipes, notes, plans, shopping and freezer items, and the photos you added.
What stays behind
If you share a household with others, the book, plan, and freezer belong to that shared kitchen — so they stay for the people still at the table. Your account is removed and you'll no longer have access, but the recipes you added to the shared book remain for them, unless they're removed too. Ask anyone in your household to take out specific recipes before you go if you'd rather they didn't keep them.
Anything you deliberately made public — a shared recipe link or a published book — is taken down when your book is deleted. Routine technical logs (see the privacy page) age out on their own shortly after.
This can't be undone
Deletion is permanent — once your book is removed it can't be brought back. If you only want a break, you can simply stop signing in; nothing is deleted until you ask.
